Live on Purpose: Why Intentional Habits Are the Foundation of Freedom

habits May 06, 2025

When people ask how I changed my life, they expect me to say discipline. Hustle. Willpower. A secret biohack.

But the truth? It started with intention.

Not doing more, but choosing better.

I used to wake up already in survival mode. I’d open my eyes and start scrolling, rushing, skipping meals, skipping workouts… constantly abandoning myself just to keep up with everyone else. Then I’d wonder why I felt so disconnected, bloated, burnt out, and full of self-doubt. I needed substances, nicotine, sugar, caffeine, and constant dopamine hits just to feel functional.

Then I swung to the other extreme.

I’d wake up and jump into a cold shower, rush to the gym, smash cardio, and race to a job fulfilling a role someone else had written for me

If your habits are rooted in other people’s expectations, societal “shoulds,” or fear of not being enough…
You're not living in alignment.
You’re still performing. You’re still people-pleasing.

What Are Intentional Habits?

Intentional habits aren’t about being perfect. They’re about being aligned—with your values, your energy, and your goals.

They’re the choices you make on purpose, with purpose.

  • Saying no to chaos because peace is your priority
  • Prepping real food because your body deserves to feel good
  • Journaling or walking instead of doom-scrolling because presence matters to you

(If that’s what’s important to you.)

Why Your Habits Might Be Failing You

If your habits keep falling apart, here's why:

  • You're acting from shame, not self-respect
  • You're copying someone else's life instead of designing your own
  • You're stacking habits on top of survival mode, expecting consistency when your body feels unsafe

The Shift That Changed Everything

When I got radically honest about what I valued—freedom, energy, peace, impact—I started making decisions that matched. And my life began to change.

Intentional habits don’t require perfection. They require presence.

And when you build from that place, everything else—nutrition, movement, mindset, recovery—finally sticks.

Start Now → Ask Yourself:

  • What are your current habits really reinforcing?
  • Do your routines align with the version of you you’re becoming?
  • What do you need to let go of to start living on purpose?
